The member-favourite London restaurant arrives in LA with a menu of authentic Persian dishes inspired by Tehran’s hole-in-the-wall kebab houses

Friday 19 September 2025 By Chloe Lawrance

Food-loving members have long-raved about Berenjak’s menu of kababs, mazeh and khoresht – whether enjoyed at residencies at Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire and DUMBO House in New York, or at the Persian restaurant’s original locations in London, Dubai, Sharjah, and Doha.

Good news for all of us, then, that its first US outpost opens in the Garden at Soho Warehouse on Wednesday 24 September, with both members and the public welcome at the LA site.

The menu celebrates simple, authentic flavours that draw from and merge Iran’s rich culinary history with founder Kian Samyani’s family recipes, translated into flavourful, family-style dishes that are made for sharing.

Those dishes include mazeh, such as Black Truffle Olivieh (chicken-mayo salad with potato, egg, salted cucumbers, and black truffle) and Mirza Ghasemi (aubergine cooked over coal with garlic, tomato, and eggs). Of course, there are kababs too – perhaps what Berenjak is most celebrated for. Choose from the likes of the classic Koobideh Kabab, made with minced lamb shoulder, or try the Meygoo Kabab, which combines BBQ prawns, kashmiri chilli, and roast garlic. And we can’t forget the khoresht: big, flavourful stews, typically served with rice, with taftoon (wood-oven-baked sourdough flatbread) and sangak (wholewheat flatbread baked on pebbles) to mop up any leftovers.

Be sure to leave plenty of room for the sofreh – side dishes such as Balal (corn on the cob flavoured with chilli, lime, and chives) and Sibzamini (fried potatoes with sauce kordi and strained yoghurt), as well as khiar shoor (salt-brined cucumbers and dill) and Torshi Haftebijar (pickled cauliflower, carrot, and cabbage).

Also on the menu is a host of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to wash it all down with. Try the refreshing Black Lime Sharbat (a blend of black limes, fresh limes, soda, and mint) or Doogh – a sparkling salted yoghurt drink, flavoured with dried mint. For something stronger, the Salted Plum and Marigold Margarita – marigold-infused Tequila, plum wine, plum jaune, and lime – is a must-order, as is the Saffron Carajillo, which blends saffron-infused Mezcal, Licor 43, and espresso.

Berenjak will be open for dinner service Tuesday to Saturday, from 5.30pm to 11pm. Bookings can be made via the Soho House app. Walk-ins will also be available. We look forward to seeing you there.
