Last weekend, hungry Los Angeles members gathered at Soho Warehouse for three days of food-filled events, as Soho Food Festival arrived Stateside for the very first time. Powered by Porsche, the celebration of all things culinary included exclusive One Night Only supper clubs with guest chefs, together with engaging talks, workshops, tastings, and a truckload of food pop-ups to try. Guests were also treated to performances from some musical greats.

The event kicked off with a Member Mixer on the House’s rooftop. As DJ Chava provided a relaxed soundtrack, members mingled, sipped cocktails made by our friends at Fever-Tree, and enjoyed bites from a spread styled by Allison Jacks. Next, Soho Warehouse bartender Gerard Almazar led members in a special Soho Food Festival edition of House Tonic, guiding them through his tips and tricks for making the perfect Picante.

Our first One Night Only dinner of the weekend came courtesy of Action Bronson, in partnership with British travel brand Antler. Fresh off his role on the new thriller Caught Stealing, the trailblazing actor, rapper and chef prepared a mouthwatering menu of his favourite foods, while also sharing his insider recommendations for the best restaurants around the world. We closed out the evening with DJ sets from two very special musical guests: Malaysian-Irish producer yunè pinku, known for her introspective, genre-blurring mixes, and DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown – aka soul icon Erykah Badu.

A Power Yoga class provided a refreshing start to the day, before our youngest members gathered together for a cooking lesson courtesy of Little Kitchen Academy. Elsewhere, photographer Tom McGovern guided workshop attendees through the basics of food photography – from table styling to lighting – and our bartenders helped members master the art of the perfect Martini.

Throughout the day, members grazed their way around the Garden Takeover, feasting from pop-ups by the Yeastie Boys, Badmaash, Burritos La Palma and Cecconi’s, while washing it all down with cocktails from the special Patrón bar. The rooftop was also transformed into our all-day House Diner, powered by Porsche, where we served a menu full of diner classics with a Soho House twist, such as steak and eggs, waffles, House burgers, milkshakes, and more. As evening rolled around, members let their hair down, enjoying Porsche’s Simply Kalmado cocktail, plus diner-themed cocktails like the Cherry Pop, Tang, Apple Pie and Strawberry Shake, all courtesy of ‘Highball Honcho’ and LA mixologist Saeed ‘Hawk’ House.

We were also joined by Yangban’s chefs Katianna and John Hong for a special One Night Only dinner in the Drawing Room, in partnership with evian, where members enjoyed a menu of genre-defying Korean American food. Later, chef Sean Brock stepped away from his usual place in the kitchen and took to the decks to see the night out with a special Club Sounds set.

Sunday 5 October
Members began the day with a Body Max HIIT class led by Soho House trainer Natasha Pineiro in the gym, followed by a restorative smoothie. In the Drawing Room, Devynee Dawn of Garden of Eve LA led an introductory workshop on decorating a cake that looks like a true work of art, and later in the day members gathered to improve their tequila knowledge with the experts from Patrón. Putting their palate to the test, they discovered the intricacies of the process of crafting quality tequila and how those choices affect the final product, while also sipping on a range of tequilas.

The Garden Takeover returned for a second day, with pop-ups from Trudys Underground, Kuya Lord, Heavy Handed, and Cecconi’s. And on the rooftop, Octavio Olivas, chef and founder of Ceviche Project, hosted an interactive demo showcasing how to prepare golden eye snapper ceviche served with tostadas.

The afternoon progressed with a conversation between the host of Five Rules For The Good Life podcast, Darin Bresnitz, and Sue Chan, a leader in design and innovation in the food industry. As the founder of events and media agency Care of Chan, she has judged the James Beard Foundation Leadership Awards and served as the director of programming for The New York Times Food Festival in 2022.

The weekend ended in style with a special evening with Berenjak. Recently making its Los Angeles debut at Soho Warehouse, the restaurant takes inspiration from the traditional Persian kebabs offering simple and authentic flavours. Members gathered for a One Night Only dinner, where they tasted some of the signature dishes and celebrated the new beginning with the Berenjak team. Guests also enjoyed a special Persian dance performance as part of the dinner, and were gifted a custom Berenjak candle by Colle to take home with them.
