Soho House Copenhagen celebrates one year with Lulu Kaalund

To mark the one-year anniversary of Soho House Copenhagen, we got together with Creator Projects and Copenhagen-based artist Lulu Kaalund, presented by V1 Gallery, to create an art installation of a boat adorned with her famous crochet artworks. The boat will be docked in front of the House from Wednesday 23 to Sunday 27 August, setting the scene for all of the celebrations that will take place over these five days. 

Powered by Porsche, you can expect a party hosted by Kaalund herself with a DJ set by Croatian Amor. Plus, a birthday party with a photo booth on the boat, and a day of live jazz music where we will be running a quintessentially Danish crochet workshop.

With a blend of contemporary and folk aesthetics, the crochet pieces that Kaalund is known for were specifically selected for the boat. Not only does the installation hint at the cultural significance of Soho House Copenhagen as a former customs house, but it also embraces Denmark’s deep connection to the sea – a key aspect of the country’s culture.

Serving as an extension of the House, the boat will be covered entirely with Kaalund’s handcrafted pieces. There will also be light installations with a subdued maritime tone mounted in the wheelhouse and more of the artist’s creations throughout the club. Plus,  guests will be able to jump on board the boat for photographs at the birthday party.
