The Tai Life Media and Brown Girl Jane founder describes how she begins her mornings and prepares for the day ahead

Centre my spirit
‘I’m a person of deep faith. I pray and read the Bible first thing in the morning. I’ve made it a point to do so before I look at the clock, pick up my phone, or put my feet on the floor.’

Focus my mind
‘I’m a big believer that we are what we think and what we consume. As someone who is juggling multiple businesses, my to-do list is long. Taking two drops of Brown Girl Jane daily Balance CBD drops helps to keep me focused and clear. I also read a daily devotion called Until Today and a short essay from a book called 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think by Brianna Wiest. I’ll try to get five to 10 minutes of meditation in, too.’

Connect with those I love
‘As someone who lives by herself in LA, this pandemic has taken alone time to new levels. I make sure I connect with two to three loved ones or friends via call or text every morning. It reminds me that I’m not alone in the world.’

Make a daily to-do list
‘I’m extremely visual. Writing my to-do list every morning holds me accountable. I also take at least two things off it every single day as soon as I finish writing it, so that I start the day feeling like I can accomplish everything.’

Activate my body
‘I love hiking and training. I hike at Griffith Park or Runyon Canyon Park five to six days a week. I ride my Peloton three times a week (often doing doubles), and I try to weight train three times a week. I might be a bit compulsive, but on the days I don’t train I don’t quite feel like myself. I’m a better me when I’ve sweated before 8.30am.’

Speak to my team
‘My first calls on Mondays and Tuesdays are at 6.30am; the rest begin by 9am (PST). My business partner or assistant are likely to be the second and third voices I hear outside of that first call I made to a loved one.’
