In these unpredictable times, a low-stakes conspiracy can be a great source of distraction (our new favourite: Big Plastic replaced plastic straws with paper straws so people would associate eco-friendly choices with soggy inconvenience).

And the debunking of a low-stakes conspiracy? Even better. So, while we’ve long believed in the deal-breaking dichotomy of city breaks versus beach holidays, we’re delighted to concede that this myth has been busted, courtesy of Soho House Barcelona and Little Beach House Barcelona. 

Located in a striking 18th-century building in the city’s Gothic Quarter, Soho House Barcelona overlooks Marina Port Vell. And Little Beach House Barcelona is just a short drive away, nestled in the sleepy bay of Garraf, where sun, sea, sand, and chilled cocktails await… Here’s everything you need to know about our clubs in the sun-drenched city.

The architecture and interiors

Inspiration for Soho House Barcelona was taken from classic Catalan design, with gothic architecture influences and double-height, vaulted ceilings. Bedrooms have a modern but rustic look, with lots of warm colours and traditional Spanish patterned textiles. Bathrooms feel light and simple with local tiles and vintage bronze fittings. Furnishings throughout the House are a mix of mid-century European pieces with local antiques and custom-made designs from the Soho House team. 

Little Beach House Barcelona is set in a 1950s two-storey seafront building in the village of Garraf. The design incorporates Spanish and Catalan influences, keeping with the colour schemes of the green and white beachside chiringuito huts. The restaurant has a green terrazzo tiled floor and a fluted timber bar with stools – both replicas of the original mid-1950s design – and locally-sourced vintage sofas and armchairs. A spiral staircase from the main space leads up to the rooftop, and sliding doors open out onto a geometric-tiled deck with steps down onto the beach – everything you need to truly soak in the presence of the Mediterranean. 

The bedrooms

The bedrooms in the main Barcelona House are spread over three floors and are available in different sizes. All have a unique design with Juliet balconies and views of Marina Port Vell, Plaça del Duc de Medinaceli or the surrounding streets. They have a modern yet cosy style with wrought iron or upholstered headboards, warm Mediterranean colours, and patterned fabrics. The bathrooms are simple and delicate, and feature local tiles and vintage-style bronze fixtures. All bathrooms are equipped with a full range of Cowshed products.

Each of the 17 bedrooms in Little Beach House Barcelona has custom-designed rugs, lamps made by a Barcelona ceramicist, and tapestry wall hangings by artist Maryanne Moodie. A number of rooms offer sea views to be enjoyed with a chilled glass of Lady K – from a balcony or a bathtub.  Some of the Small bedrooms come with a rooftop terrace, an outdoor bathtub and views of the Garraf hills.

The food and drink

Soho House Barcelona
The club floor: located on the fifth floor for members to eat, drink, meet, socialise, and relax. Open all day and night, this space has a lounge area and a bar with outdoor seating. The menu is inspired by the Mediterranean, with locally-sourced ingredients, salads and tapas, plus fish and meat straight from the grill. The club serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as late-night drinks. The club also has The Cabin Club, a dedicated space for member events looking out over the marina.

The rooftop: with views out to sea and across the city. The rooftop has a pool with beds, a bar and a lounge seating area where food is served from breakfast through to dinner. 

Cecconi’s: a public restaurant originating in Mayfair, London, with sister restaurants in Berlin, Miami Beach, and West Hollywood. It’s open seven days a week, seating up to 120 guests, with a classic Italian menu. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from Monday to Sunday, as well as a Sunday Feast brunch. Little Beach House Barcelona

House Kitchen: equipped with a pizza oven, paella counter and a fish counter displaying the catch of the day. Focusing on traditional Spanish tapas, the menu is full of Mediterranean flavours, with a heavy focus on seafood. It makes use of local and seasonal ingredients for the purest experience of the food culture in this beautiful corner of the world. And as much as we love seafood, there are plenty of vegan options, too.
