Art Club, live music and a new screening – all at the Houses

Friday 7 October 2022 By Soho House

1. Dante’s Presents: Kai Alcé at Soho House Austin
There is a certain type of artist that transcends generational and artistic boundaries, that channels their experiences while simultaneously fostering an environment for others to thrive. Kai Alcé is a prime example. Born in New York, some of his earliest musical influences included his mother’s penchant for soca music and the distinct Caribbean rhythms of his culture. An appreciation of jazz would be further guided by his father’s expanding audiophile home system. Moving to Detroit in 1980 put him at the centre of music history as the Belleville Three and their contemporaries moulded house into the new sound, while simultaneously working at the now famed nightclub, The Music Institute’. Join us at Dante's Friday for some of Kai Alcé's sounds.

2. Art Club: ‘Sea, swallow me’ by Richard Vergez at Soho Beach House Miami
This month’s hallway artist, in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Richard Vergez, joins us for a talk followed by a musical performance in the Snug.

3. Redrum with Caroline Rose at Soho House Nashville
The club turns red with a DJ set by singer-songwriter Caroline Rose. Grab a Picante and dance the night away. After a long struggle to release what would ultimately become 2018’s Loner, deemed ‘a singular artistic statement from its unforgettable album art all the way down’ (Pitchfork), Rose found herself in the midst of a new widespread audience, one both intrigued and perplexed about how and where to place her. That, combined with a developed set of studio skills and a challenge to ‘make something from nothing’ marked the beginning of her album Superstar.

5. Just Shania Productions: D-Date screening at Soho House New York
Just Shania Productions presents the new reality dating show D-Date that follows a single person as they put their dating life in the hands of their friends. We watch them as they go on dates with different potential partners chosen by their closest pals. These aren’t your average first dates, though – each one will challenge the couple to get to know each other in an unconventional way. In the end, the decision is up to the single person to choose who they want to continue dating. This show is in partnership with Blacktag, set to release through their platforms in 2023.
