Tuesday 3 October 2023 By Soho House
Relocating from Austin for the first time, SXSW is heading to Sydney to host the iconic festival-meets-conference event. From Sunday 15 to Sunday 22 October, Soho House will take over The Old Clare Hotel in Chippendale, which is situated in the heart of Sydney surrounded by art galleries and design studios.
Soho House and Cities Without Houses members will have access to the Soho Residency at The Old Clare Hotel from 11am to 4pm daily from Monday 16 to Sunday 22 October with tables allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. A House menu with some of your favourite dishes and cocktails from the Houses will be available all day, as well as a special art installation by Paul Davies and artworks by George Byrne.
We’ll kick off the week with a Poolside House Party on Sunday 15 October, followed by a diverse range of music events from Soho Sounds in partnership with Patrón to live performances from Ziggy Ramo, Connie Constance and Milan Ring. You’ll also find inspiring conversations, workshops, industry mixers and parties throughout the week, including Sydney Is So Gay, a night to celebrate our LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies, and DISCOTECA, our closing party featuring Sydney creatives Mandylights, Sissy Ball and Pretty Girl.
Monday will bring a talk by TikTok creator Sam Andrews on campaigns, championing diversity and authentic storytelling, and an industry mixer for members of Soho House and members of Australians in Film. On Tuesday, you can attend an In Conversation on purpose-driven travel with our partner Antler. On Wednesday, there’s a TikTok Spill The Tea session and the evening will feature a Soho Rising show with Constance. At the end of the week, enjoy a conversation and mixer hosted by Sydney member and co-founder of SoldOut Events, Thomas Staunton, and a Spill The Tea special bringing the excitement of speed dating with a range of TikTok creators.
Sharing our love for travel, we’ve partnered with British luggage brand Antler to create a One Night Only dinner with dishes inspired from our Houses around the world in collaboration with chef-owners of Three Blue Ducks, Darren Robertson, Andy Allen and Mark Labrooy. Dinner is AUD200 per head and spots are limited.
To finish the week, we’d love for you to join us for a celebratory toast with the team behind SXSW Sydney®.
All spaces for daytime and evening events are limited and must be booked via the Soho House app.
Soho Residency is located at 1 Kensington Street, Chippendale with access via Kensington Street only.
