Sometimes, spontaneous moments are truly the best – especially when it comes to live music. Remember that one special gig, the energy of the crowd, the feeling of somehow being at the right place at the right time? It’s time to relive it all with the return of Soho House’s Secret Sounds series.

Secret Sounds is our seasonal series of live performances across all of our global Houses, and the premise is you won’t know who is performing until the night of the event – but trust us, the intrigue will be worth it. ‘The element of surprise is totally unique to Soho House. We love the fact that members can arrive at the House for dinner or drinks, and the next minute have Erykah Badu perform an intimate gig,’ says Dom Chung, Soho House’s Head of Music. ‘Artists also feel totally comfortable performing in our spaces, as they’re very much a home from home.’

Lewis Capaldi, Erykah Badu, Macy Gray, Leon Bridges, Little Simz, Ghetts, Arlo Parks and Joy Crookes have all been among previous Secret Sounds performers, and our new series of gigs promises the same calibre of talent and beyond. We can’t wait to sip on our Patrón Palomas and Picantes while waiting for that big reveal. In the lead-up to this year’s series, which will run from August until October 2022, Chung tells us about his top three moments from past shows.

Lewis Capaldi at Shoreditch House
‘This happened just as the first lockdown had come to an end and there were still restrictions in place, but seated live shows were allowed. We heard Lewis Capaldi was interested in collaborating with us on something and the stars aligned perfectly to pull off what was possibly our most memorable secret show to date. Capaldi performed on a beautiful late summer evening on the rooftop of Shoreditch House. For many, it was the first show they’d seen since lockdown and an iconic way for us to come back with music.’

Little Simz at Soho House 76 Dean Street
‘Little Simz performing to 100 people at 76 Dean Street on the same day that she released her album, Sometimes I Might Be An Introvert, was a classic Soho House moment. She brought out Obongjayar to perform their track ‘Point And Kill’, and created a who’s who of the UK music industry, with the guests who came out to support one of the leading names in music right now.’

Erykah Badu at Soho House Chicago
‘Completing one of my all-time favourite line-ups, we had already announced Thundercat and Flying Lotus to close our Pitchfork party for members at Soho House Chicago, but we saved the best till last. Erykah Badu turned up as our secret guest to join Thundercat and Flying Lotus and close out the legendary party.’

Secret Sounds will take place from August until October 2022.
