To mark the arrival of our second House in Latin America, new local members joined us for a special party and Committee dinner

Wednesday 19 June 2024 By Yasemin Celepi

A city known for its architecture, music, street food and contemporary art, São Paulo recently welcomed the arrival of our newest House – the first in South America. To celebrate the opening, we were joined by its creative community for two nights of events.

The first of these was a candlelit dinner for Committee members. Taking place in the club’s courtyard, members enjoyed Moqueca Brazilian Seafood Stew, alongside Rib-Eye Steak, Cavatelli Pasta and Eton Mess. Over dinner, members chatted with their new community, with the rest of the evening spent exploring the House, taking in the locally inspired and sourced interiors, and sipping on cocktails.

The following night, we welcomed the city’s creative community for the House’s official opening party, taking place across two floors of the club. In true Brazilian style, the evening featured live music and samba dancers from famed samba school Mocidade Alegre, who performed in traditional feathered headpieces and bright costumes. This was followed by a live set from drag queen and pop singer Pabllo Vittar.

The main bar was transformed into a dancefloor, where guests sipped on Picantes and the São Paulo-inspired Casa Verde cocktail, while dancing to DJ sets from Brazilian artists Deekapz, Batekoo, Gop Tun, Ubuntu, Tago Oli, and Giu Viscardi. Cheese pastéis – a popular local pastry – Dirty Burgers, and chocolate nemesis brownies with whipped cream were served throughout the evening, as part of a menu created by head chef João Melo.

Members were also the first to view the House’s art collection, which comprises more than 60 artists born, based or trained in Brazil, with the majority residing in São Paulo. The curation includes works by Alexandre Da Cunha, Antonio Tarsis, Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro, and Jaime Lauriano.
