Inside Soho House Amsterdam’s fifth birthday party
In partnership with Bacardí and Harper’s Bazaar, we celebrated half a decade of our Dutch club

Last night, we celebrated the five-year anniversary of Soho House Amsterdam with a party that took over the entire club for the evening and into the early hours. To mark the occasion, we reflected the culture of Amsterdam with a selection of local artists, collectives and even a surprise performance by the Dutch rap group, The Opposites. With different genres of music in each room, guests could party to their favourite sounds, plus there were sunset drinks on the rooftop, a pool filled with inflatables, and graphic light projections by Amsterdam-based visual artists, Children of the Light.
The Allis Bar played afrobeats and house music by STEWWW, as well as various other DJs, all from a marble DJ booth designed by Dutch artist Sabine Marcelis and Solid Nature. The crowd was fuelled by candy floss and drinks by Bacardí, and in true Soho House style there was a photo booth for guests to record their favourite moments.
Over in our speakeasy, the Blue Room, we invited Harper’s Bazaar Netherlands to capture the best-dressed guest, and as expected there were plenty to choose from. To add a fun element, the room was password protected and everyone had to uncover clues from around the club to find it. Once they gained access, they were met with a complimentary Bacardí cocktail and tunes by DJ Covergirl Sunny.
The Canal Room was dedicated to funk and soul, with Willem Mulder warming up the crowd until Dam Swindle took over at 10.30pm until the early hours. Meanwhile, in the main club, there was a mixture of R&B, funk, soul and hip-hop, with Mr Wix, Lion Kojo and JAEL behind the decks. Then, The Opposites got the crowd jumping with a surprise performance at midnight. The backdrop for the evening was provided by Children of the Light, who set up slide projections all around the House, using guests as movable canvases from the moment they arrived.
